Moundsmere Manor Gets A Price Cut

Lord Laidlaw of Rothiemay one of the richest men in Scotland, has had to slash the price on his 15-bedroom estate, Moundsmere Manor in the Hampshire village of Preston Candover. Homes and Property's Home Gossip reports that he put the home on the market three years ago for £14 million but has now reduced its price to £10.95 million. He bought the property for £9 million in 2005.

The Manor is a red brick house which was built in 1908-9 by Sir Reginald Blomfield for Wilfred Buckley, a successful businessman returning to England from America. The Edwardian style mansion is surrounded by a walled garden and the property includes a pool and tennis court on nearly 85 acres. The few listing pics reveal large rooms, substantial fireplaces and a sweeping staircase.

iHouse SmartFaucet Goes With Your Flow

With iHouse’s SmartFaucet, you may be spending more time at the sink – not washing your hands or preening in front of the mirror but checking your emails, schedules and other applications.

The highlight of this concept faucet, however, is its ability to use facial screening application to adjust the temperature of the water automatically to your preferred temperature and flow. Integrated LEDs change from blue to red to indicate the temperature changes.

The Brazilian company is taking its facial recognition tool further with another concept called Fadec, pushing the envelop for home automation systems.

Just by looking into the built-in camera of the device, the user can control lighting, air-conditioning, blinds, and all other Smart devices like their shower systems and bathtubs, and of course, the aforementioned SmartFaucet.

Hold Me, Thrill Me, Squeeze Me

Japanese audio electronics maker Kenwood has teamed up with designer Claudio Colucci for a combined speaker and lamp dubbed the Squeezophone 360, which will make its bow at Bar Blanco during the Salone del Mobile in Milan next week.

The pair of hourglass-shaped speakers are made entirely of Corian (a material more commonly used for kitchen countertops and sinks), and each houses a 3-way system comprising a woofer, a full-range driver and a tweeter.

From RAAL To Eternity

International audio partnership RAAL-Requisite present their most advanced omni-directional speaker system to date, the Eternity speaker system, an edgy work of art for the living room that promises to bring one closer to perfect sound.

Fronted by Aleksandar Radisavljevic of RAAL Advanced Loudspeakers of Serbia and Danny McKinney of California’s Requisite Audio Engineering, they bring to the table their combined expert knowledge of sound engineering and ribbon loudspeaker production.

The resulting high performance speaker system that is the Eternity is one that reproduces even the smallest audible details effortlessly, delivering undistorted sound true to the original musical piece, regardless of the size or shape of the room.

With dynamic ranges and reflexes, the distortion-free bass and crystal-clear high ranges will make for a most realistic audio experience in the comfort of your own home.

The speakers themselves are crafted like a true work of art, with bass spheres cast out of bronze in the exact same way a sculpture would be carved by artist and sculptor Professor Nikola Jankovic, the man who gave the Eternity speakers their name.

These lovingly hand-sculpted speakers will be produced in limited runs of about twelve pairs each, with a pair retailing at US$88,000.

Kelly Killoren Bensimon In East Hampton, Estate of the Day

I'm beginning to think that The Real Housewives of New York City" isn't a reality show about rich New York ladies, it's a real estate showcase in disguise. One of the housewives, Ramona Singer put her Southampton home up for rent this summer already and here comes another one. The modelicious Kelly Killoren Bensimon has put her home on Further Lane in East Hampton for rent for the summer for the lofty price of $335,000. You can also buy it for $10.9 million.

The shingled home has four bedrooms and sits on 1.2 acres that include a gunite pool and a two-car garage. The interior is a bit more modern than many summer homes with dark glossy wood floors, a stainless steel kitchen and plenty of animal prints and whimsical details like a giant shark mounted in the living room. Newsday's Real Li reports that the home was on sale in 2007 for $14.5 million.
