Samsung's BD-P4600 Re-defines Blu-ray Deck Design

Samsung gives a refreshing look to the normally stoic designs of Blu-ray disc players with its latest wall-mountable BD-P4600 deck.

At 1.5 inches thick, Samsung says the BD-P4600 is the world’s slimmest Blu-ray deck, and also gets the same “Touch of Color” treatment like its LCD televisions (6–9 Series) and monitors.

The top draw is undoubtedly the Netflix and Pandora music services support, which enable video and music streaming over the network, a feature that is also available in the more conventional BD-P3600 which debuts alongside the BD-P4600.

Both players offer Full HD 1080p playback, DVD upscaling through the HDMI 1.3 port, BD Live and Bonus View support, as well as standard CD playback, display JPEG photos and DivX videos. There’s a 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi dongle (which takes up one of two USB 2.0 ports) thrown in to wirelessly connect to the latest Blu-ray features and upgrades.

The ability to decode high-resolution multi-channel audio, including Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD and dts-HD HR / MA makes for a truly cinematic experience. Furthermore, the BD-P3600 allows for 7.1 Channel analog audio outputs.

Apple Upgrades 17-inch MacBook Pro

Apple has finally upgraded its 17-inch MacBook Pro to a new unibody design, and this new notebook can now not only boast of being the lightest and thinnest of all other notebooks in the 17-inch category - it also has the world’s longest built-in battery life.

Using Adaptive Charging technology, Apple has custom-designed lithium-polymer cells and issued a promise to deliver a notebook capable of up to 1,000 recharges and eight hours of wireless productivity. The MacBook Pro, already made of highly recyclable materials, consequently contributes less waste to the world in the form of depleted batteries.

While the long-lasting battery life is bound to be its key selling point, Apple has not skimped on other aspects of the notebook. The 17-inch MacBook Pro is a mere 2.5 cm thin, and weighs a slight 2.99kg.

This small body packs a 2.66 or 2.93 GHz processor, up to 8GB of RAM, an option for an upgrade to a 256GB solid-state drive, five speakers, three USB ports, a durable unibody structure and a screen that gives a color gamut that is 60 percent wider than the older 15-inch model.

Enter the Yellow Motorcycle, a novel design by Yutaka Igarashi featuring a high performance motorbike controlled by even higher performance robots.

The innovative prototype is driven by a mighty electric motor with built-in battery cells, while a swinging boom accurately controls steering and balance through its potent hydraulic actuators. The ambitious design claims super speeds and aims to challenge the likes of MotoGP participants.

I hate to say it, but I am starting to grow quite envious of those robots; a few months in this world and they are already fixed with the sleekest rides.
